The same signal, different collaboration possibilities

Illustration of an analysis on fictional data, consistent with the direction of the Matrix360 methodology. It does not show a finished platform or a measured sales effect.

Task

Assess a possible direction of collaboration from the perspective of a specific supplier. Prepare questions and update the assessment after new information. The example starts from an already identified signal; it shows how the signal is interpreted and the direction updated, not how signals are found.

The signal and two business profiles

A client is planning a second plant and wants to unify device servicing. Two ticket registers are kept separately. It is not yet known what hinders the work and what is missing.

  • Alfa Service provides device maintenance; it has no confirmed competence in building software.
  • Beta Integration connects ticketing systems and organises data flows; it does not service devices.

Before you read the result

Does the plan for a second plant justify an offer from both suppliers? What should each of them ask before proposing a project?

Method and criteria

Signal → matching to the profile → hypothesis and unknowns → verifying question → updating the direction.

We assess whether the questions follow from the supplier's competence, whether they test an uncovered need, and whether the new information actually changes the recommended action.

Excerpt from the result — different questions

Alfa: “Do the current contracts and suppliers cover servicing of the new plant?”

Beta: “Where are the registers kept, and do the existing solutions allow them to be connected or replaced by a single one?”

Alfa is testing whether a conversation about maintenance is possible. Beta is testing a task concerning systems; a new integration is one of the hypotheses, not a confirmed order.

Update 1

The client confirms service coverage for both plants and that it is not looking for another maintenance supplier. The Alfa direction is set aside. Beta's questions about a shared register remain open.

Update 2

The current system supplier will provide a shared register, and the available functions cover the need. The direction of an additional integration is also set aside.

What does the result show?

Two profiles lead to different questions. An answer about servicing does not automatically settle the need for integration. Each direction is assessed against its own grounds.

Setting aside both directions is the result of this case. A return would require new information about an uncovered need matching the supplier's competence. The example does not measure the number of opportunities won, working time saved or revenue.

In your business

Which competence of your company should change the questions you put to the client? That is where Matrix360 profiling begins.
